This series explores the desert as a place of contradiction: dry but alive, ancient yet constantly changing, sparse yet wildly saturated. Each painting holds the moment when the landscape stops being scenery and becomes atmosphere, memory, and heat. Genuine metal leaf including  copper and 23k gold move through the work as exposed minerals, sun-struck water, or a seam of light caught just before it disappears. The surfaces feel weathered and shimmering, with drips, scrapes, veils, and gestural marks suggesting both erosion and growth.
