Sharon Whitham is a printmaker and mixed-media artist who spends part of each year working out of her studio in Boston, living on an island off the coast of Maine, and creating art in Mexico. Sharon’s work is inspired by both nature and culture, focused on themes of connectedness, balance, loss and change. Her recent work is influenced by the current tone of divisiveness in our country, specifically religious and cultural tolerance and diversity, as well as the crises around immigration and climate change.

Sharon majored in Fine Arts at Ramapo College of New Jersey, and holds degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Harvard University. Sharon continues to explore and practice her art – including printmaking, Chinese calligraphy and brush painting, fiber arts, encaustic, watercolor and pastels.

Sharon is represented by Artemis Gallery (Northeast Harbor, ME), Mystic Osprey Gallery (Beaufort, SC) and BostonArt at the Boston Design Center. Whitham’s work is shown regularly throughout the New England area as well as at national and international galleries
