Most of my work is focused on older, dark, worn books that tend to have an antique or aged look with complex themes and imagery. This collection is the opposite of that, as it focuses more on a child's imagination, color, and whimsy.
My newer contemporary pieces have been created in the past few years. Most of these are more significant works with multiple books or unique perspectives on the journey of discovery.
This collection of smaller sections of damaged books was the result of water, stains, or shear neglect of various volumes from the Funk and Wagnall series from the 1950s. Saving a section provided a wonderful canvas for creating these smaller pieces of artwork that have an interesting look on their own or in a group.
