Scott was born and raised in Needham, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. He has been sketching and painting off and on since childhood. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Art. After graduation, he began his 38-year career in the aerospace industry. His work placed him at the heart of developing manufacturing process and innovations for the next generation of aircraft engines. His collaboration with leading manufacturers, pushed the boundaries of what was possible in both commercial and military aircraft propulsion.

Scott’s retirement, nine years ago, brought him and his wife, Sharon, down to Aiken and he was able to return to art with a renewed purpose in retirement. Intrigued by unusual subject matter, he is focused on mood and lighting effects, resulting in pieces that stand apart for their evocative compositions and nuanced atmospheres.

As a member of the Aiken Artist Guild and Center for the Arts, Scott finds inspiration not just in art, but in travel and the exploration of new cultures and landscapes. His works are characterized by their unusual perspectives and technical proficiency.

Scott shows his art in art shows throughout the Aiken and Augusta areas. He was recently selected to enter a painting in the ArtFields Competition Festival in Lake City, SC. He and his wife Sharon along with yellow lab Riley enjoy living on their small horse farm in Aiken and traveling to find new subjects for his painting.
