Hi, I am Sandra Cooper, a native Texan and Houstonian currently residing in Willis, Texas. I was employed as a graphic designer at several large companies in the Houston and surrounding area, and started my own graphic design business in 2007, creating marketing material for my previous employer and other clients. I am now having fun and devoting more time to my artistic endeavors!
My goal is to capture the beautiful colors, shapes and textures of nature in my photography, art and jewelry to share with you. Open your eyes and let nature in, let it inspire you! You never know what you’re going to see when you step outside! As a child I was drawn to nature and started drawing at a very young age. While in school, I signed up for every available art class and took various painting and drawing classes. There are always new things to learn and I enjoy experimenting with new techniques and mediums, and use acrylics, watercolors, markers and ink in my paintings, and I create mixed media art using texture and paper, and other found materials.
Photographing my neighborhood American Bald Eagle pair and other wildlife/nature in my environment and travels is a passion. I also use my photography and art to make interesting digital art pieces. And, I love designing jewelry using my handmade clay beads, combining them with vintage and new beads to design new jewelry.
I have been a member of The Woodlands Art League (TWAL) since 2006, and have received numerous awards for my art and photography exhibited in the League’s judged shows. I previously volunteered as Vice President, Exhibits from 2021-2022, and have helped curate TWAL’s Exhibits at South County Community Center, (now Kevin Brady Community Center in The Woodlands), the Hyatt House in Shenandoah, and The Owen Theatre in Conroe. I've also exhibited at Ardest Gallery in The Woodlands, and I'm a rotating artist at Kneadme Bakery in Shenandoah.
Stop by and see my art currently exhibited at the venues previously mentioned. I still volunteer to help with TWAL’s exhibits, and assist with exhibit / league marketing, designing notices and sending email blasts and posting on social media to help promote TWAL’s exhibits and events.
2026 has been a busy year! My proposal for the Community Art Project for the 2026 Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival was accepted! I was lead artist for the project which involved the attendees at the Festival to paint 242, 3"x3" wood squares with a pre-drawn paint-by-number style, and we painted paper butterflies at the festival and at paint groups at TWAL and Canopy. I put the finished project together on three wood panels and it was given as a permanent art installation at Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. It was definitely a community project. Check it out if your ever at Canopy (photo on Profile).
Another favorite charity I have participated with the League is the “Doodle Art” project for Inspiration Ranch! I've participated annually since 2019! Artists create and donate their collaborated art with their “Doodle Artists,” for an annual fundraiser auction/gala, "Denim & Diamond" in The Woodlands. Another favorite is the AAR (Abandoned Animal Rescue) fundraisers. These are great organizations, and I enjoy giving back with my art!
