Samantha Tipler's practice is grounded in close observation and an intuitive response to her surroundings. Through colour, pattern, texture and movement, she explores the atmosphere and energy of a particular moment, inviting viewers to pause and notice what might otherwise be overlooked.
Creating paintings and photographs inspired by the natural world, coastal environments and the subtle details of everyday experience, she captures not simply what she sees, but what it feels like to be there. Adelaide-based and having lived and worked in Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe, she draws on a rich visual memory of changing landscapes, light, colour and place.
Samantha studied at the South Australian School of Art and has exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions in Australia and the United Kingdom. In 2024, she was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Glover Art Prize in Tasmania, a significant honour and highlight of her career. She was also a finalist in the 2024 SOHO Art Prize and has been shortlisted for several South Australian and national art awards. Her work is held in private collections, and she has completed commissions in Australia and the United Kingdom since 1997.
