This series reflects the artist's lived experience navigating both Japanese and American cultures. Classic Barbie and Ken dolls are transformed through hand-painted faces, custom-sewn traditional Japanese garments, and carefully styled hair. Several pieces in the collection have also appeared in both domestic and international performance works by Rumi Tsuda.
