I am a portrait and figurative artist living and working in Pembrokeshire, Wales. I studied Drawing at Falmouth University which shaped my practice into one rooted in realism but with and ever present theme of emotional enquiry.
Now working predominantly in oil paint, previously in pen, watercolour and charcoal, I combine fine detail with expressive mark-making to capture depth and emotion in my subjects. Portraiture, for me, is a means of articulating the experiences that words feel insufficient to express such as mental health, motherhood and global injustice.
Symbolic florals run through a second strand of my practice, drawn from a love of botanical illustration. They weave into my figurative work as quiet carriers of meaning and narrative layering.
Alongside my studio practice, I teach Life Drawing in St Davids, creating a welcoming space for people to develop their observational and figurative drawing skills.
