“Highland Palette” is a response to a winter journey through the Scottish Highlands, where shifting atmospheric conditions revealed a landscape defined by persistence rather than resolution.
Basalt, peat, fog, and intermittent sky informed a palette of layered greys, mineral blues, and weathered earth tones. Rather than functioning as a depiction of place, the work operates as a translation of lived encounter into material accumulation.
Within the HOLD / HELD framework, the experience of the Highlands is held as a form of inherited recognition—an embodied sense of belonging that does not assert itself as narrative or certainty, but remains present as a quiet alignment between body, memory, and landscape.
