Renee Reid, a self-taught colored pencil artist, draws inspiration from her Jamaican heritage, vibrant upbringing in South Florida and her love of traveling. Although she enjoyed her first art class in her senior year of high school, her passion for art remained dormant until 2018. Renee majored in finance and worked in insurance, not thinking about art until burnout hit. To combat her stress, she sought a creative outlet, which ended up being a local colored pencil class. Renee fell head over heels for the medium's vividness and intricate details, rekindling her artistic spirit.
Renee's pieces take viewers on an inner journey, using their eyes as a vehicle to explore their emotions and reflections. Her artwork serves as an invitation to explore the enchanting world of colored pencil, where feelings and stories come alive through many small markings.
She has earned recognition, with her work featured in Ann Kullberg's Color magazine and receiving the Excellence in Drawing award in the McKinney Texas "Unique by Nature" juried art show. Renee is working on her first art collection and sharing her progress with her audience.
Enthusiastic about sharing her art with the world, Renee aims to inspire and engage her audience, adding a burst of vibrancy and emotion to their lives.
