With this painting I set out to bring attention to an aspect of the rare disease community that may typically be overlooked by others – feeding and/or eating. My younger brother Joshua is diagnosed with Phelan McDermid Syndrome. This work tells a story of eating carrots and peas. The food is pureed to be rejected or accepted by the body either willingly or by feeding tube. There also is a straw bringing attention to the thickness of a liquid that may be needed to safely consume it.
