Advocacy is having a strong desire of transforming and supporting the community, and I aspire to accomplish this as one of the most accessible and trustworthy medication experts for many underserved patients. As a current second-year student at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy, I have learned of many ways a pharmacist can advocate for their community. Pharmacists are more than pill pushers as some people joke – they emphasize the importance of advocacy on a daily basis whether it is communicating with various members of the healthcare team or addressing medication concerns. Pharmacists have played a profound role in my health and well-being since my medical diagnosis in 2017. If it had not been for their treatment optimizations and recommendations, I would not be here to advocate for patients who may endure similar medical crises. Participating in the 2022 Rare Across America event afforded me the valuable opportunity to promote the cosponsorship of the Help Ensure Lower Patient (HELP) Copays Act with health policy committee members for Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. I was extremely thankful to support a policy that will not only greatly alleviate the financial burden for myself but for many rare disease patients. Birth Year: 2000
