The design for this bench utilizes Luget limestone panels from the Holland Center project that were damaged during shipping. Bars of stone were cut from these damaged panels and set using epoxy. The layered stone, representing the stratification that occurs in natural earth formations, also demonstrates an effective use of discarded materials.

"Stacked Stone" was sponsored by DeMarco Bros. It was one of thirteen sculptural benches installed in 2010 along the paths of the Gene Leahy Mall as part of the "Take a Seat" project. The bench was moved from that location when renovations to the mall began in 2019, and placed in its current location along Flanagan Lake Road at Flanagan Lake.
