About the artist

Sidney (Buzz) Buchanan

1932-2019

A renowned local artist, Sydney "Buzz" Buchanan retired from teaching art courses at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2002 and was integral to the education of many art students. Buchanan is known for his enormous public sculptural work around the city—at University of Nebraska-Omaha, Omaha Public Schools administration center, Eppley Airfield, Gene Leahy Mall, University of Nebraska Media Center, Joslyn Art Museum and more. His works, including drawings and smaller wood sculptures, are part of numerous public and private collections nationwide.
