Precious Burger is a contemporary mixed media artist based in Fairfax, Virginia, whose vibrant, layered work is rooted in light, love, wonder, joy, and connection. Growing up in West Virginia, creativity served as both a playground and a refuge. Time spent outdoors building forts, collecting found objects, and imagining new worlds shaped her relationship with materials, texture, and storytelling from an early age.

Her relationship with art deepened during her teenage years when life required her to grow up quickly. Creativity became a grounding force—a way to process emotion, navigate uncertainty, and preserve a sense of wonder that would remain with her throughout her life.

After earning degrees in Art Education and Special Education from West Virginia University, Burger spent more than 30 years as an educator, helping others discover their own creative potential. When chronic health challenges led her to retire from education, an unexpected chapter began. Given the time and space to turn toward her own creative practice, she began to recognize the potential in herself that she had spent decades nurturing in others.

Burger's work has since been presented in solo, juried, group, and public exhibitions throughout the Washington, DC region and beyond. Recent solo exhibitions include Through Me: Where Wonder Finds a Way at the Valley Educational Center for the Creative Arts (VECCA) in Woodstock, Virginia; Illuminate the World at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland; and Free 2 Be Me at the Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery in Washington, DC. Her work has also been presented at Arlington Courthouse Tower and featured in national and international arts publications including Novum Artis, Artistonish, and Arts to Hearts. She is represented as a Studio Artist by Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona.

What began as a way of navigating the world has become Burger's way of contributing to it—creating work that makes room for wonder, possibility, and connection.
