Zoran Poposki (MFA, PhD, FRSA, FRAS) is a transdisciplinary artist, curator, and academic based in Hong Kong.
His work has been shown in more than 100 exhibitions, screenings and festivals worldwide, including the XIII Cairo Biennale, 30th Biennial of Graphic Arts Ljubljana, Institute of Contemporary Arts London, Xi'an Art Museum in China, Art Basel Hong Kong, Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art in Manchester, Asia Contemporary Art Show in Hong Kong, Modern Art Center in St. Petersburg, City Art Museum Ljubljana, Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico, Museu da Vila Velha in Portugal, National Museum of Montenegro, National Gallery in Skopje, Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje, Art Stays Festival of Contemporary Art Ptuj, and University of Sharjah. His public art projects have been presented on urban LED screens, video billboards, posters and billboards in NYC, Skopje, Dublin, Hong Kong, and the demilitarized zone between South Korea and North Korea.
Poposki has exhibited alongside major names in contemporary art, including Gerhard Richter, Nam June Paik, Allora & Calzadilla, Xu Bing, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Jenny Holzer, Olafur Eliasson, William Eggleston, Thomas Ruff, Robert Cahen, and Sebastião Salgado. His works have been selected for curated and juried exhibitions by prominent international curators and critics, including Deborah Cullen (Director and Head Curator, Wallach Art Gallery, Columbia University, New York), Elisabeth Sussman (Curator, Whitney Museum, NYC), and Donald Kuspit (Professor Emeritus of art history and philosophy, SUNY).
Poposki's curatorial projects have been presented at Hong Kong Arts Centre, Osage Gallery Hong Kong, Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art Manchester, Anita Chan Lai-ling Gallery Hong Kong, Videotage Hong Kong, ArtStays International Festival of Contemporary Art (Slovenia), Gallery 3D Mestre, and Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
Awards include the CEC Artslink Award (New York), ArtSlant Prize Showcase Juried Winner (Los Angeles), Global Art Awards Finalist/Painting (Dubai, in association with The Wall Street Journal), and ArtRights Prize Finalist (Italy).
Artist residencies include SVA School of Visual Arts (New York), Wooloo (Berlin), PNCA Pacific Northwest College of Art (Portland, OR), and VSC Vermont Studio Center.
Poposki's work is held in the Luciano Benetton Foundation's Imago Mundi collection (Italy) and the Videotage Media Art Collection (Hong Kong), has been featured in The Guardian, and is archived in the AUP archive (a project of e-flux in collaboration with the Serpentine Gallery, London) and in Google Arts & Culture.
Poposki is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (FRAS).
