Philine van der Vegte is a contemporary figurative artist, working primarily in oils and ink. Her subjects are found close to her studio on a farm just north of Amsterdam, and include animals, portraits and landscapes, with a focus on the relationship between humans and domesticated animals.
Philine has had solo exhibitions at Waterlandsmuseum De Speeltoren, Museum Jan Boon and De Boterhal, and has shown work in group exhibitions at Museum Staal in Almen, Museum Nairac and Museum Zandvoort. She regularly participates in shows at Galerie Mokum in Amsterdam, including at major art fairs such as PAN Amsterdam, Art on Paper, Affordable Art Fair and KunstRAI.
Philine is an artist member of Arti&Amicitiae, has curated exhibitions at De Boterhal and is chairman at De Waterlandse Kunstkring.
She received a grant from the Gerbrandy Fonds to study sightsize portraiture at Sarum Studio in Salisbury and was selected for the Summer Exhibition 2018 and Climate Expo 2022 at Museum De Fundatie, as well as “Lang leve Rembrandt” at the Rijksmuseum in 2019 and "Het portret" in 2025.
Her work has been featured on Dutch national television in Gezonken Meesters and Sterren op het doek, as well as in the BBC drama series Golddigger.
Philine graduated from Wackers Academy Amsterdam in 2019 and teaches occasionally.
