"Václav Hejna's exceptionally dynamic, masterful industrial composition captures the interior space of a factory hall with technical machinery. Here, the author fully utilizes his early study of architecture. Instead of classical painting, he constructs space using an admittedly drawn network of auxiliary vertical and horizontal axes in the upper plan. He deconstructs individual machines, presses or lathes into flowing geometric blocks and intersecting rods. Here, Hejna masterfully combines sharp pencil contours and pastels with rapid, fluid layers of watercolor. The monochrome thickening of the dark machine in the left part contrasts sharply with the bright, yellow and rusty orange accents of light falling on the mechanisms on the right. The work is a great example of the author's courage to experiment and capture objects influenced by modern civilization. With its civilistic approach, it creates a direct parallel to the work of the authors of Group 42. Signed by the author at the top right."

„Mimořádně dynamická, kresebně suverénní industriální kompozice Václava Hejny zachycuje vnitřní prostor tovární haly s technickým soustrojím. Autor zde naplno zúročuje své rané studium architektury. Místo klasické malby konstruuje prostor pomocí přiznané rýsované sítě pomocných vertikálních a horizontálních os v horním plánu. Jednotlivé stroje, lisy či soustruhy dekonstruuje do plynulých geometrických bloků a křížících se táhel. Hejna zde mistrovsky kombinuje ostrou konturu tužkou a pastely s rychlými, fluidními nánosy akvarelu. Monochromní zahuštění temného stroje v levé části ostře kontrastuje se zářivými, žlutými a rezavě oranžovými akcenty světla dopadajícího na mechanismy vpravo. Práce je skvělým příkladem autorovy odvahy experimentovat a zachytit předměty ovlivněné moderní civilizací. Svým civilistickým pojetím tvoří přímou paralelu k tvorbě autorů Skupiny 42.
