Klaus H. Hartmann first completed an apprenticeship as a nurse. He has lived and worked in Berlin since 1979. He studied sculpture with David Evison at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1980 to 1986. [1] In 1982 he was a founding member of the group ODIOUS (with Gisela von Bruchhausen, Klaus Duschat, Hartmut Stielow, David Lee Thompson, and Gustav Reinhardt, among others). [2] For years, the group ran a joint studio. The members exhibited together or individually.
In 1984 Hartmann was awarded at the XVIIIe Prix Internationale d'Art, Monte Carlo, in 1985 he became a master student of David Evison, in 1987 he received a working scholarship from the Senator for Cultural Affairs, Berlin,[1] and in 1988 a studio scholarship from the Karlhofer Society, Berlin. Since 2005 he has been a member of the German Society for Garden Art and Landscape Culture e. V.
Hartmann works with painted and deformed sheet metal and places it in deliberate contrast to calm, clearly formed individual elements.
