Haunted is the first part of my Photo Essay on Bodie, California. Looking through the windows of the few still-standing homes, I wondered about their prior inhabitants. It felt as if their disembodied spirits were hiding in the wallpapers, the old furniture and the various objects left behind in a hurry. The inversion technique and the prints on aluminum give great emphasize to the eeriness of the place.
In Greek mythology, the RiverStyx is the sacred passage which connects the dualities of our world- life and death, shadow and light, conscious and unconscious. It is a revered point of transition and source of power for the Gods, giving life and taking it away.
