Several designs from each collection are created in smaller sizes (in multiples) to showcase colour options that will be introduced in the larger pieces in an upcoming series. These are also made small to allow for collection over time. The minis can be hung together as several pieces to create your unique cloud groupings. 

Each work begins with climate data from recent wildfires — translated into luminous, cloudlike forms that draw the viewer in with colour, texture, and sparkle. From the candy-coated whimsy of Bubblegum Sky to the stormy weight of Jasper and Evros, these pieces play with allure and denial, seduction and catastrophe. By disguising environmental trauma in beauty, Atkinson asks us to consider how we, too, gloss over reality — hiding disaster behind filters, spectacle, and distraction, even as the world burns around us.

Built from weather data and transformed through layering, repetition and reflection, these optical constructions explore how information changes as it is interpreted. Transparent colours overlap to create new relationships, allowing simple forms to evolve into increasingly complex compositions.

Balancing structure with chance, each work invites the viewer to consider how perspective shapes understanding—and how beauty can emerge from even the most turbulent systems.

The Unless collection consists of artworks inspired by extreme weather data from across Canada in 2023. From record rainfall in Halifax to drought in British Columbia to floods in Quebec.
