Melissa Sutherland Moss (b. Brooklyn, NY) is a Costa Rican American interdisciplinary artist and adjunct professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Her practice spans collage, sculpture, installation, video, sound, text, and performance. Drawing from research, personal history, and material experimentation, she explores landscape, identity, and migration through Black diasporic histories across the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States. Her work often draws on archival materials, family photographs, and inherited narratives to examine visibility, concealment, labor, and belonging.

Her work has been exhibited at institutions including The Phillips Collection, the Biggs Museum of American Art, and the National Afro American Museum and Cultural Center. She has been awarded residencies and fellowships with MASS MoCA, ArtCrawl Harlem, the Chrysalis Institute for Emerging Artists, the Alliance of Artist Communities, and Zea Mays Printmaking.

Moss divides her time between New York, NY and Baltimore, MD.
