My abstract paintings are rooted in the mountain and river landscapes of Colorado and the West. Living at the base of the mountains and spending time on rivers, I am immersed in vast skies, shifting light, and terrain shaped by the movement of water.
I work with acrylic, oil, cold wax, and charcoal, often using nontraditional tools, such as palette knives, scrapers, and brayers, to build layered surfaces that suggest depth, erosion, and shifting space. The physical process of painting allows me to respond intuitively to the landscape while also serving as a form of release in which I process change, let go as my children grow into young adults, and navigate the pressures of work and the wider world. The ephemeral feeling of my paintings creates a meditative space, allowing reflection, release, and moments of calm.
