Mattis Richter (b. 2003 in Großenhain, Germany) is a painter and architecture student at TU Dresden. He has worked with painting from an early age and has focused primarily on oil painting since 2018. His practice is shaped by an ongoing interest in atmosphere, landscape, memory and imagined worlds.
Alongside painting, his studies in architecture inform his sensitivity to space, materiality and the relationship between built and natural environments. Richter has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and has been selected for several art prizes and exhibition formats, including the European Art Prize, LoNa Selection and Kunstpreis Weilburg. He currently lives and works in Dresden.
