Australian artist Martina Latimer (b.1979, Austria) is guided by a sustained question: how images can articulate meaning beyond language. Her works exist between presence and absence, where thin layers of oil paint, blurred forms, and painted lines suggest emotional states without fully defining them. Her mark-making feels immediate, intimate, and recognizably human. Working in series allows repetition to reveal difference, where subtle variations emerge; it is within these shifts that meaning often resides.
