From the Bottom explores the unseen foundations that sustain both the human body and the natural world. Built through a process of layering and excavation, the painting draws on geological time and the visual language of medical imaging to reflect on the relationship between what lies beneath and what emerges at the surface.
Suggesting sediment, strata and bodily tissues, the work considers memory, erosion and regeneration as interconnected processes. Part of an ongoing investigation into the parallels between internal and external landscapes, it invites reflection on the quiet forces—biological, emotional and environmental—that shape our experience of place, identity and belonging.
