Our identities are constructed from all directions.

My work examines the tension between what we are taught to become and what our bodies, instincts, and memories ask us to be. Education, religion, migration, masculinity, language, and social expectations provide structures through which identity is organized, but these structures can also conceal, restrain, or distort parts of the self.

I work across video performance, assemblage, fiber, printmaking, painting, installation, and drawing. Found objects, discarded books, textiles, fragmented forms, and gestural lines enter the studio carrying previous histories. I do not treat these materials as neutral. Each one contributes its own symbolic weight and often redirects the work toward unexpected outcomes.

Concealment, stitching, binding, cutting, repetition, and deconstruction recur throughout my practice. These actions reflect the ways individuals are classified, disciplined, protected, and limited. At the same time, they offer possibilities for repair, transformation, and resistance.

In my video performances, I use irony, poetic humor, and physical action to consider the condition of the contemporary artist: resilient yet precarious, moving between cultural identities, economic pressures, institutional expectations, and the desire to create freely. Objects made for the performances may later become sculptures or assemblages. The action, prop, residue, and documentation therefore remain connected as parts of a continuously expanding archive.

Rather than defining identity as stable or singular, I understand it as layered, contradictory, and fluid. We live in a multicultural world shaped by migration, inheritance, and exchange. My work embraces this instability and proposes that belonging does not need to originate from one place. We can belong everywhere while remaining impossible to fully define.
