My paintings explore what remains after experience has been filtered through memory. I am drawn to the moments that make us pause: the glow of a sunrise or sunset, the rhythm of ocean waves, the unfiltered joy of a child’s laughter, or the quiet comfort of feeling truly seen. Rather than documenting these moments, I seek to capture their emotional residue: the sensations, connections, and impressions that linger long after the moment itself has passed.

Working primarily in acrylic, I build each painting through layers of color, texture, and intuitive mark-making. I move between intention and experimentation, adding, obscuring, scraping away, and rediscovering what lies beneath. Earlier marks remain as traces of the painting's evolution, much as fragments of experience remain within memory. This process allows each work to develop organically, revealing unexpected relationships between color, gesture, and space.

My work is informed by the atmospheric color and sensory immediacy of Impressionism, as well as the expressive gesture and layered surfaces of Abstract Expressionism and Lyrical Abstraction. While these influences provide a foundation, my practice is ultimately rooted in personal exploration and the emotional possibilities of abstraction.

Through vibrant color, movement, and layered surfaces, I create paintings that are open to interpretation. I invite viewers to bring their own memories and experiences to the work—to discover something familiar, something unexpected, or simply a feeling that resonates.

I view abstraction as a meeting place between what we have experienced and what we imagine. My hope is that my paintings create that moment of recognition - a sense of joy, wonder, connection, or belonging - and that they continue to reveal something new each time they are encountered.
