Linda Cordner is a painter based just outside of Boston, MA.
She received a BFA from the University of Connecticut.
Structure and fluidity collide in Cordner's paintings, and her current series creates a striking language of geometric composition. Cordner balances the organic spontaneity of layered media with the deliberate construction of shape and line. Utilizing an intricate mix of translucent acrylics and inks on canvas, pieces feature interlocking, geometric forms that suggest structural frameworks or pathways.
At the heart of the pieces is Cordner’s unique process of visual accumulation and overlapping equilibrium. Each canvas undergoes a cycle of building up vibrant hues before she intentionally weathers and refines the surface. Subtle underlying lines and partially obscured washes of color whisper a visual history of what came before, leaving remnants that are essential to the final piece. Ultimately, her work captures a palpable tension between movement and stillness, offering viewers a deeply personal geography of balance, where disparate shapes, colors, and memories finally find their home.
