Helen Mildred Callison Glover was an American regional artist active in the Midwest during the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Smithville, Missouri, she married Capt. Jack Foy Glover Jr. at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, in 1958. During her husband’s military career the couple lived for a time in Germany before settling in Fargo, North Dakota in the early 1960s.
Glover’s earliest known work dates from her Fargo period, where she produced relief prints depicting local subjects, including scenes of the Fargo Fairgrounds and other architectural elements of the city. These works, likely drypoint etchings or linocuts, reflect the bold graphic style characteristic of mid-twentieth-century regional printmaking.
Around 1969 the Glovers relocated to Springfield, Missouri. Newspaper records document exhibitions of her silk screen prints at Broadstreets Gallery in 1970 and later oil paintings and drawings at Unity Church Gallery in 1974, indicating the expansion of her practice across multiple media.
