Leela Payne intuitively works through the process of placing organic lines and vibrant color on canvas to create ethereal symbolic visions. She believes that the painting process is more of a spiritual journey that leads to enlightenment and self-reflection.
Leela received a Bachelors degree in Art Education from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and a Masters degree of Supevision and Leadership in the Visual Arts from Bank Street College and Parsons School of Design in New York City.
Ms. Payne has been teaching art in Montgomery County Public schools for over twenty years. Teaching art has been a great inspiration because it has allowed her to explore and experiment with a wide variety of materials and learn about many facets of art. Being around children has taught her to be spontaneous and intuitive when creating her own art. As a freelance artist she exhibits locally and has illustrated children's books for local authors as well.
