At the School of Fine Art, Auburn University, Kim earned a BFA with a concentration in graphic design. She then spent 10 years serving as a designer and senior graphic designer in several corporations in the engineering and technology industries. After relocating with her husband from Florida to New Jersey she enjoyed the flexibility of freelance design work while raising their family. She has always had a drive to learn new ways of incorporating the things she loves into her work. In 2013-2014, she spent time developing more than ten surface/pattern collections and introduced them at the Surtex art licensing show in New York City. Many of these and additional ones are available for product licensing. She has always come back to painting, continuously exploring different approaches. She started out working extensively in watercolor in a style all her own but eventually expanded into acrylic and collage. This led to an exploration of abstract expressionism and a soulful, intuitive practice that she continues today. Kim creates her paintings in her home studio and shows her work in various local venues.
