The inspiration for the Murmurations series stems from an inquiry into society, collective action, and unity, sparked by a personal memory of witnessing thousands of starlings flying in unison along the East Coast.  Massive numbers of starlings fly in unison. They are symbolic of communication, unity, strength in numbers.   Starlings maintain coherence in massive flocks by aligning themselves with just seven neighboring birds to navigate successfully—highlighting how small, individual connections scale into collective harmony.
