Each of the colors in this series has been hand-dyed, and the wool comes from sheep that raised at my father’s farm in New Hampshire. The materials and techniques – knowing the sheep from whence the wool came, hand-dyeing the skeins of wool, and then weaving them into tapestry, are often associated with craft and homesteading. I turn these associations on their head by choosing to work with neon colors in abstraction, questioning our desire to categorize and distinguish between the contemporary and traditional.
