Serpents & Saints explores the space where beauty and transformation coexist.

We are all both serpent and saint. We shed old selves while carrying the scars of who we once were. We learn to hold beauty beside sorrow, vulnerability beside strength, memory beside hope. Life asks us to begin again, not by erasing what came before, but by allowing every experience to become part of who we are.

The women who inhabit these paintings are not portraits of specific individuals. Women are my language, symbolic figures through which I explore memory, resilience, transformation, and the unseen stories that connect us all. Serpents speak of transformation, wisdom, healing, and renewal. Flowers remind us that beauty is not the absence of hardship, but something that grows because of it. Together, they reveal that grace and struggle are not opposites, but companions.

Working intuitively, I build each painting through successive layers of acrylic, mixed media, handwritten fragments, metallic accents, and luminous glazes. Some elements emerge immediately, while others remain hidden until changing light and repeated viewing reveal them. Like memory itself, each layer preserves what came before while making room for what is still becoming.

More than a collection of paintings, Serpents & Saints is an invitation to slow down, look beneath the surface, and embrace the possibility of discovery. It is a meditation on resilience, renewal, and the quiet courage of becoming.

She Will Rise is a body of work born from a moment of profound cultural change. Created in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the collection reflects on bodily autonomy, resilience, and the enduring strength of women's voices.

As I struggled to process the decision, painting became both refuge and response. During that time, poet Cliff C.E. McClelland shared a powerful allegorical poem exploring the violation of women's rights in contemporary America. His words resonated deeply, and fragments of the poem became woven into many of these paintings, creating a dialogue between visual art and poetry.

Rather than illustrating a single political event, these works explore what remains after moments of upheaval: memory, hope, courage, and the determination to endure. Layered surfaces, symbolic imagery, and emerging figures reflect the complexity of lived experience, inviting viewers to look beyond the visible and discover the stories that lie beneath.

Walk With Me

Walk With Me emerged during a season of physical healing and profound uncertainty. While navigating personal health challenges, I found myself reflecting on the fragile balance between vulnerability and resilience, and the ways we continue moving forward even when the path ahead is unclear.

Through layered acrylic, mixed media, energetic mark-making, and luminous color, these paintings capture moments suspended between fear and hope, chaos and possibility. Fragmented forms and shifting compositions mirror the unpredictability of life's transitions, while vibrant color reminds us that beauty persists, even in times of change.

Like all of my work, this collection invites viewers to slow down and look beneath the surface. It is a meditation on perseverance, transformation, and the quiet courage required to keep walking toward the light, one step at a time.
