JustArts is a community-driven art space and consulting initiative centering and celebrating the creative work of people who are incarcerated, affirming their voices and visions as vital parts of our cultural landscape. Drawing from over 15 years of experience working with artists in prison, JustArts uplifts creative expression as a powerful act of resistance, identity, and connection—an insistence on humanity in the face of systems built to erase it. JustArts Gallery, based in Tulsa, OK, hosts exhibitions and programs developed in partnership with artists confined to carceral institutions across the country, as well as their loved ones on the outside. Artists who exhibit their work at JustArts receive all income from sales, unless they independently decide to contribute a portion to support the Gallery. In addition to showing and selling their work, JustArts assists the incarcerated artists we proudly represent in identifying other avenues for sharing their artwork and stories, always prioritizing their sense of agency, dignity, and worth when forging connections.
JustArts offers our local community and partners across the country opportunities to invest in, create with, and learn from artists inside. Our Gallery space is a hub for community building and organizing efforts at the intersection of the arts and justice, and our capacity building and facilitation services promote accessibility and collaboration within arts and advocacy initiatives.
