Judi Tavill (b. 1968, Baltimore, MD) is a New Jersey-based artist known for her biomorphic sculptures made from cold finished ceramic exploring connection and entanglement.
Tavill received her BFA from Washington University, St. Louis, MO (1990). After
careers in fashion design and studio ceramics, she completed a Post
Baccalaureate Graduate Certificate at the University of Massachusetts
Dartmouth (2021).
A 2025 New Jersey State Council on the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship
recipient in Sculpture, Tavill has held residencies at Vermont Studio Center,
Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Buffalo Creek Art Center. The Flint
Institute of Arts Museum holds a sculpture in the Contemporary Crafts
Permanent Collection.
Tavill was one of eleven sculptors selected for New Sculpture/New Jersey, a
curated exhibition dedicated exclusively to contemporary sculpture at the
Morris Museum. Selected for the New Jersey Arts Annual at both the New
Jersey State Museum and Montclair Art Museum, her work has been shown
regionally and nationally. Her solo exhibitions include Ivy Brown Gallery
(NYC), Adamah Gallery (Columbus, OH), and Center for Contemporary Art
(Bedminster, NJ)
