"More Ways than One" is John Velo’s ongoing collection of pieces that explores the male physique in a unique and captivating way. The series features repetitive images of the same subjects, depicted in various poses and angles. Each painting is a manual creation, crafted with watercolor to capture the subtle nuances of the human form. The repetition of the subjects in some of the paintings creates a pop art-like effect, drawing the viewer in to examine the variations and subtleties of each individual while the use of watercolor lends a sense of elegance and refinement. These works pay homage to the traditional art of watercolor painting, while also exploring the possibilities of repetition and variation in the representation of the human body.
