In the later afternoon of the first day of my artist residency, I drove out to Carrabelle and found this Great Egret preening near the docks. I had never seen a great egret in breeding plumage. It was a bonus to be close enough to see the color around the eyes. As devastating as Hurricane Michael was, this egret symbolized the Hope I felt as I observed everywhere the signs of Recovery in the Natural Environment.
