PASCAL PHILLIPS
I was born in Biarritz, France, and grew up in Sydney, Australia.
I have always been interested in drawing, painting and architecture.
Initially, I studied business, then completed a Masters in Property Development at the University of Technology, Sydney. After graduating, I worked for 20 years in Property and Development, specialising in residential housing and medium density apartments.
In 2016 I moved to Jindabyne, where I decided to pursue a long-held passion for the visual arts.
I am intrigued by oils and watercolours, my focus is on realism in landscapes, portraiture and still life.
Travelling extensively throughout Australia, I have endeavoured to capture the essence of the landscape when painting in plein-air. My goal is to effectively recreate the magic of light and shadows, and the vibrancy and liveliness of the Australian landscape.
The great masters who have influenced me include Arthur Streeton, Hans Heysen, Albert Namatjira, JMW Turner, Tom Roberts and Hugh Ramsay.
I have studied with several contemporary artists. These include John Wilson in his oil painting workshops, Colley Whisson, Kasey Sealy, Warwick Fuller and Lyn Diefenbach. I have also attended workshops in watercolour by Chan Dissanayake and Julie Goldspink.
Currently, I am pursuing further studies at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney.
