Ippitsusai Buncho (active c. 1765–1792) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, best known for his elegant actor prints (yakusha-e) and bijin-ga (images of beautiful women). Working primarily in Edo (present-day Tokyo), Buncho collaborated with several leading publishers and was particularly acclaimed for his refined portraits of Kabuki actors. His prints are distinguished by graceful compositions, delicate linework, and restrained coloration, reflecting the artistic transition from the Torii school to the more naturalistic style that influenced later masters. Buncho's works remain highly regarded for their sophistication and are represented in major museum collections around the world.
