The way we respond to our visual environment tells us a lot about what gives us comfort and what gives us pause. I find that the practice of making art allows me to become even more sensitive to such unspoken aspects of my own unique self.

I am increasingly interested in portraying my subjects with a highly empathetic lens while exploring variations in compositional space through context, texture, and the quality of light. 

I am drawn to the illusory effect of creating form and/or atmosphere without being too literal — leaving space for the viewer’s imagination. I hope the effect is to enliven one's senses and bring vitality and freshness to the work.
