Mid 2023 I started making more dramatic marks using acrylic paint markers. This coincided with a growing comfort with myself as an artist - so the boldness that comes along with the mark-making is an outward sign of that confidence.
Life is about transitions, changes, and movement. Passages are our way of moving from one place to another, passing over, under, through, or past objects, people, or places on the way. This series is about those travels, those passages.
I lived in Florida for nine years before moving to the Detroit area nearly six years ago. Beaches, sunny skies, and surf are entwined with my soul and find their way into my pieces, even in abstract ways.
