Bio
Jim Singelis began his professional career designing scenery for theatre, film and print photography. After 20 years as a set designer, he reinvented himself as a computer programmer and moved from New York City to New Marlborough where he set up a home office.
In 2009, Jim was able to return to drawing and painting and since then he has been focused on the representation of the human face in both drawings and paintings. He calls it his obsession!
Although Jim has had little Fine Arts art education, he has a good foundation in the basics from his set design training and work; and credits the open studio life drawing classes at IS183 with reigniting his interest in art.
Jim shares a studio in Hartsville with his wife, Linda Skipper, a member of the Berkshire Pottery Tour.
