Sugar Skulls are a decorative sweet confection representing a departed soul, celebrating the cycle of life, and celebrating the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The holiday is widely celebrated in Texas (my home state) and falls on November 2nd (All Souls Day / Day of the Dead) which is also my birthday. The representation and decorations were satisfying to represent in fabric and thread.
