My paintings begin as a way of processing the world—particularly the tension between connection and disconnection within our environments. Working in abstraction, I approach painting as a space for dialogue, where visual language holds ideas about place, ecology, and our shared human condition through transcendental methods.

I typically work on large surfaces, beginning with loose mark-making in paint, pencil, or charcoal. A recurring horizontal element anchors the work within a shifting sense of landscape. Through layered applications of paint, using brushes, palette knives, and at times my hands, I build surfaces that search for nuance and unexpected visual relationships.

My process is a form of distillation. I filter what I observe—often the overlooked or uneasy—into compositions that reflect emotional and psychological dissonance within a conceptual landscape. These spaces suggest disorder and fragility while also holding the possibility for repair and reconnection. Color and texture play a central role, softening and obscuring these tensions while inviting sustained visual engagement.

Underlying the work is an ongoing consideration of my connection to the earth—both physical and historical—and a concern for the future we are shaping. Painting becomes a way for me to navigate these questions, offering a space where viewers might reflect on their own relationship to their surroundings, to one another, and to our interconnectedness.
