Heather McGarey is a realist artist rooted in the classical tradition. After earning a BFA in set and lighting design from the University of Colorado, she ventured into the diverse artistic landscape of New York City, studying at the Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts. Her multifaceted career included roles as an interior designer, set designer, stage lighting technician, all the while exploring fine art.
As a Signature member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, Heather served as president of the Denver Chapter for three years. Heather's art has been showcased in numerous juried shows and International exhibitions. Heather's ability to appreciate the intricacies of colors, tones, and textures is evident in her transition from acrylic paintings to colored pencil, and now to charcoal and oil paint, specializing in sensitive portraits of both produce and people.
