Hannah Layson is a Sydney-based artist with Greek and Iranian heritage. In her practice she operates through the modes of ceramics and painting. Her body of work explores the relationship between memory and place. In particular she explores how our personal contexts are embedded and reconstructed through memory and place. She draws upon vicarious experiences to create a process of rememory, and this relationship may be explored through more enigmatic themes of nostalgia, dreams, or personhood within her works. Hannah Layson currently works within art galleries and ceramics studios, in a teaching, research and technical support capacity. She has recently been a finalist in the 2026 Hornsby Art Prize, the 2026 and 2025 Burwood Art Prize, the 2026 Arts in the Valley prize and the 2024 Lane Cove Art Award.
