People and animals are my favorite subjects to draw and paint. In the past 10 years I made over 230 portraits.

At the moment I love to make an underpainting in acrylic, watercolour and pencil, which can be very abstract. After drying I finish the painting wit several layers of oil.

I am originally from the Netherlands and made Canada my home at the very beginning of this century. Life has been particularly hard on me with lots of set backs health and otherwise but I have kept a positive outlook and started to focus on art in 2016.

Recently I owned a womenswear retail store, while learning as much as I could about portrait painting in my free time. I have taken many online courses and have had the privilege of attending a workshop with Annette Smith in Scottsdale, Arizona. Additionally I have also done portrait training with Ona Kingdon and an intensive traditional portrait painting course at the Florence Academy of art in 2026.

In 2024, I joined Artwork Archive and my work from before that time is no longer available.

Hanna lives with her husband, son and 3 dogs on an acreage in rural Manitoba.
