Leland Powers, a former chair of the Department of Art and Design at Fort Hays State University for over 15 years, is primarily known for his acrylic works. As a result of his sabbatical leave, Powers created new paintings and works of interior design, which included vignettes, interior and exterior settings, and paintings on furniture that he constructed. In 2015, these works were part of an exhibition at the Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art.
